So Much!

131. I'm thankful it's Friday!
132. That I made it to my baby shower at my school today (I was on bed rest the last time and didn't get to have one)
133. For so many sweet coworkers to celebrate with me
134. For Orange Chicken (my fast food weakness)
135. That I didn't have to cook dinner tonight.
136. That Caiden has gotten in some good Grandparent time this week.
137. That I've discovered Caiden's love languages: quality time and physical touch.
138. That I continue to feel good even though I'm weeks away from delivery.
139. For dinner with our doula last night- what a blessing she is and a fabulous pillar of support.
140. That when I went to buy Caiden a pair of jeans they were 50% off!
141. For the book: Ina May's Guide to Childbirth- sounds hokey, but is a wealth of info and so inspiring!
142. For when C. says, "Mama, let's talk" - this week she said, "your word is innocent, my word is exactly- what's it mean?"
143. That Caiden was dry for two days and got to try out "big girl panties". She had an accident, but she's learning!
144. That I get to see my family tomorrow to celebrate my Dad's birthday and we're all pitching in to make some YUMMY food!
145. That even though I'm large, I can at least fit into a FEW things. =)
146. That I'm going to meet my baby soon!!!
147. For my sweet husband and how he pitches in even when he's exhausted.
148. That after the baby comes we're going to take swing dancing lessons! I can't wait!!
149. That my body is really trying to fight off this cold.
150. For sunshine after a drizzly, dreary day.
151. That my body is working hard to prepare for delivering this baby.
152. For Caiden's squeals of appreciation over a pink and purple sunset and her exultation, "God made that- thank you God!"

That's all for now. I'm hoping to start researching some different pre-preschool learning ideas soon. Caiden is blowing my mind with her understanding and curiousity, and love of learning and I really need to start thinking about how to best cultivate that. I'm not interested in creating a child-genius, just one that delights in learning, being curious, and using her imagination. As it is, she knows ALMOST her entire alphabet, she can identify about half of those letters and place it with an appropriate word that represents it (Look- there's a B, B is for Baby), she can count from 1-12 and can label numbers of objects with the appropriate number. And we really haven't even tried. As we read I'll point things out, and she has seen the ABC Signing Time and has learned a lot from it, but other than that, she's just picking it up on her own. So, I think it's about time for me to start trying to come up with activities/opportunities before she does. =) Any books, websites, ideas, milestones, etc. not only about academic learning, but other kinds of horizon expansions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Feeling settled

101. that for the first time in months I'm feeling calm, settled, and ready for this baby.
102. That we found a crib on craigslist just like Caiden's but a lighter wood, for $5 less than we paid for hers! (She's still in hers.)
103. For a warm and snuggly robe- good for middle of the night nursing sessions.
104. That I was introduced to a WAHM business that I can support- - she's making my carrier for the baby!
105. Cherishing snuggles with Caiden and quiet moments in our one child household for a few more weeks.
106. That Jeff is watching Caiden on Wed. AND Fridays now- C. LOVES it!!
107. For a surprise call from Kris- it's snowing at her house in TN!
108. That Caiden thinks that her Daddy is her Prince- just like Cinderella. =)

114. for yummy new recipes
115. that I got to see Heather and Michael for a few minutes the other night.
116. that Caiden delights me every day with something new
117. that Caiden's favorite musician is Laura Story =)
118. for cold weather- and heat!
119. that we DID find a doula- PTL!!!
120. that even though we've given up our scented laundry detergent for one that is healthier for us and the environment, at least I can enjoy the neighbor's laundry days on our walks. ;)
121. that Caiden has started saying, "Mama....remember?" and telling me about something we did before, yesterday, or in the past- too cute!
122. that when Jeff went to pick up the crib today that Caiden thought that meant that "baby Peanut" was coming home today too. She was so excited to "meet baby Peanut". Try explaining THAT to a 2 year old! "But WHY Mama?"....
123. that I am so incredibly blessed
124. for garlic bread
125. for squirrels with cheeks full of nuts, and Caiden laughing at them and saying they are her friends (how appropriate for her to recognize a kindred spirit- two food lovers!)
126. that C. has learned to "nurse" her doll, and then promptly "burp" it, and the eruption of giggles after every burp is almost too much.
127. for Gene Stratton Porter's gift with words
128. for a slower day tomorrow
129. for the scent of clean
130. that I'm going to bed now! =) Good night!

Christmas break

This break has been wonderful and I'm not looking forward to returning to work this week. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of the big things that happened: celebrating Jesus' birthday, Caiden's second birthday party, or Heather's wedding. But, I know that my Mom does, so when I get a chance to get over there, I'll be sure and post again.

Here are a few to tide you over in the meantime. Here we are making a birthday cake for Jesus.

Every Christmas Eve we go to the Christmas Pagent at church, go out to dinner, and then home to open gifts as a family. Christmas Day we have a party for Jesus and eat cake. This year our plans changed when Caiden fell asleep on the way home from dinner and we had to wait to open gifts until Christmas day. Here is our family picture taken on Christmas Eve after church.

This last one is of Caiden enjoying her Christmas present- an easel, paint, and Winnie the Pooh painting pages. As you can see, she's delighted!

Her birthday party was actually ON her birthday this year (two days after Christmas) and all of our extended family came! That is, except for Pipaw who was on a trip (he's a pilot) and Papa who was called out that morning to investigate a crash (he's a highway patrolman). It was sad that they weren't there, but at least Caiden got to talk to them on her special day. Even Aunt Kris called from Tennessee to wish her a happy day! Several of her friends couldn't come due to colds. =( We played at a park, ate pizza, fruit, veggies, and cupcakes, and opened gifts. Daddy gave her a xylophone, I gave her a baby sling that I sewed for her, and her birthday book (a scrap book of her second year).

I'll write more later, but for now I'm off to bed! This last month of pregnancy is more exhausting than I remember! =)
